SciconConnect

Welcome

E-mail Print PDF

Welcome to SciconConnect - an online presence of the company that started out as C-E-I-R in 1960, then was known as Scientific Control Systems during the 1970's and then Scicon until 1988.  The name "Scicon" is used in this site, and in most cases refers to all of these legal entities.

This website aims to provide both an historical and informative insight into Scicon.   The current site is very young and will undergo both content and structural changes as it grows, hopefully driven by contributions and ideas from ex-Scicon employees.

The site will also provide information about the Scicon reunion that is held each November in London.  This will facilitate email correspondence about the reunion as well as general online information about the event.

There is also a 'members' area where you can login and gain access to information being shared by fellow ex-Scicon staff.  This is intended to provide a friendly social and business network environment just like the one enjoyed by those who can attend the reunions each year.

Reunion - administration

E-mail Print PDF

During the 1990's the Scicon reunion was organised by Jack O'Malley.  His stirling work was then picked up by John Wyborn and Paul Cutmore.  In the run-up to the 2008 event several ex-Scicon employees working at Jemmac Software Ltd offered to help out with a view to taking on the administration and communications for the reunion in future.  This includes the development and maintenance of this website.

To be eligible to come along to the reunion you need to have been employed by any of the Scicon companies on or before 18th April 1988, or have worked within the Scicon management structure up to March 1990.

Thanks for your support.

Reunion 2011

E-mail Print PDF

The Scicon reunion for 2009 and 2010 was held at Balls Bros Wine bar St James's Street SW1A 1ES and both years had over 150 paying guests and around 140 making it on the evening.  Unfortunately, without any notice the venue has closed down.  Thankfully, after a bit of a scramble we've located and secured a fantastic replacement.  Davy's Banger winebar at Eldon House, 2-12 Wilson Street EC2M 2TE is just 2 minutes from Moorgate tube and 5 minutes from Liverpool Street.  It looks a lot like the Balls Bros inside but offer a wider selection of wines and serves beer (in tankards!), lager and cider.  Even better news is that because we're not going to use the entire place we've not had to pay for hiring the venue and we've not had to guarentee a spend at the bar (some other venues wanted us to underwrite £3000!).

Due to us having to secure this location at short notice we've had to move the date from that provisionally discussed last year.  The date of this years reunion is Thursday 3rd November <-- note the revised date.

The usual invitations will be sent out during the last week of September and this site will be updated as we near the reunion date.

As usual, you can contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and as per last year you'll be able to pay your £5 administration fee either via cheque (made out to "Mark Fisher (Scicon)" or via PayPal using the button below.  When using the PayPal button please put your name (at least) in the "Description" field so we can tell who had paid. Note, you do not need a PayPal account to pay via PayPal.

We look forward to another great evening with old friends and colleagues.
